John Lemon Lennon

I really like doing these high contrast lines.
reference image used, I think it's one of those pictures of John that literally everyone has seen (or at least if you're a Beatle fan you have)
(also the hair a little exaggerated inspired by the movie Nowhere Boy because hnngh Aaron's hair in that movie)
(the face "exaggerations" are actually mistakes that I couldn't be assed to fix after I noticed them)

actually I improperly listened to obnoxious awesome rap music while drawing this

ALSO OBVIOUSLY THAT IS NOT HIS REAL SIGNATURE that is my inner john pretending to be john

anyway I now have this over ambitious goal to depict every Beatles picture in my collection which is silly because there are currently 79 Beatles pictures. in my collection.
(kind of a weird ambition now too since I don't actually listen to the Beatles much anymore... I used to all the fucking time and then I just stopped. not that I don't like them anymore I just listen to all of the other things instead. like obnoxious amazing rap)

I... I kinda miss drawing Beatles stuff.

Oh, it's based on one of the Astrid pictures! I love your interpretation of it. (I miss your Beatles art.)

I'm kind of feeling the same way as you are about the Beatles- still loving them, but now listening to other music as well. And don't you think it's strange how so many Beatles fans hate rap? I love rap (but mostly 90s rap, when it was still rebellious, or Gorillaz, because they're so weird and still have a llot of 90s influences) and I think a lot of really creative things can and have been done with it.

I love the teddy boy pictures, but they don't really lend themselves to my usual tripping out so I couldn't figure anything better to do with it.
Black and white is always classy though.
I'm glad you like it! :D

I agree that it's kinda strange many Beatle fans hate rap. I love seeing the progression, like what they rap about. They always start out rapping about parties and getting booty but then later they rap more about the shit they've been through and some of those songs are just so damn beautiful.
Anyone who complains because they aren't singing has obviously not tried to rap before.
I listen to more recent rap though, partly because I have two music choices here, and popular american music is the more prevalent choice.
Also because I really like the synth thing that keeps happening.

Black and white is forever classy. I don't know what I feel about the teddy boy pictures, I feel like that look really only suited John. George and Paul are too cute to be badass. :XD:

Oh my god, I agree with everything you just said. The people who hate rap are the people who don't listen to it. Sure there's no melodic singing, but it's very musically and lyrically complex (or at least, the good stuff is.)
Have you heard Lil Wayne's recent song, "Mirror"? I really like it.

I think it's possible I have a thing for that rock 'n roll kinda style.

Yeah there's a good amount of bad rap too. But I mean every genre has people who just butcher it and get famous for it (not naming any names *cough*)
AND YES I HAVE HEARD THAT SONG. Lil' Wayne is actually one of my favorites and it was always weird saying that but I actually really like his scratchy voice.

Oh yes, rocker style is lovely and sexy if you have the looks or attitude to go with it.

Too true. I really don't like a lot of the watered-down (c)rap music they play on the radio. At risk of sounding like a hipster, I really loved Nicki Minaj before she was famous. She sounded seriously scary. Now her producers have turned her into yet another mainstream pop darling. ):<

Lil Wayne's voice is love. It just sounds so cool~

I guess I'll be the nega-hipster when I say I didn't even know about Nicki Minaj until she was famous. I like her though, or at least how aggressive she is when she raps.
I think Finland gets music months after the US does too so for now I'm behind on trends. (that's just my excuse for being really bad at discovering unknown music)

For the most part I can't really think of any specific rap that I don't like though. Songs about smoking weed and getting bitches will always have a special place in my heart (that sounds a little backwards... but it's what I grew up on)

Yeah. Her music was way more aggro-rap a few years ago, though. It's all right that you didn't know her then, I'm not judging you. I wouldn't have known about her had I not had a classmate who was really into her at the time.

Haha, money, weed and bitches are classic subjects! I grew up on that too. :D

Yeah I know friends like that. I'll have to listen to some of her older music then. :D

it kinda makes me question how innocent I've become in comparison... isn't adulthood about being in da club?
